Israel at Heart is a non-profit organization established in 2002 with a mission to promote a better understanding of Israel and its people and to improve Israel’s image abroad. It is an independent organization, unaffiliated with any Jewish organization, government agency, or political party. Today, we have three Ethiopian Jews, all Israeli citizens, former members of the IDF, sharing from their hearts. First up is Rami Yaakov.

Over the past eight years, Israel at Heart has been traveling with young, eloquent, bright university students who love their country, for speaking tours across the US and other parts of the world. Today we have three Ethiopian Israelis as they present the multicultural aspect of the Israeli society not known to outside communities. Rachel shares her life with our listeners. She was born in Israel, served in the IDF and makes a very profound statement: “As a ‘peace-seeker’, one cannot make peace with a hater of Jews.”
Where does such hatred come from?

Today, we have discussed racism, discrimination, and the integration of Ethiopian Jews in the Israeli society with three Ethiopian students with the non-profit organization Israel at Heart. Each has served in the IDF. Each has observed terrorism, war, and hatred. They are allowed to speak freely from the hearts. Ariella served as a commander in the IDF. As a youngster, she remembers the sound of the rockets fired into Israel during the first Gulf War. Why can’t there be peace?
